Nazi policies regarding public health and the medical profession impacted the health and well-being of millions of people with far-reaching consequences that lasted long after the defeat of Nazi Germany. In addition, the Nazi regime's persecution of Jews, political opponents, and other groups created overcrowded, unhygienic conditions in camps and ghettos that established the perfect conditions for epidemics of contagious diseases to flourish.
